Can I use a 3/4 violin

Sorry about the obscure title.
basically im looking to get a cheap violin for some slight 'tinkering'.
I'm not that bothered about sound or clarity so thats why Ive been looking on ebay and related sites, ive found that there are lots 3/4 violins on sale but only some 4/4.

so my question is, if i (a 4/4 violin player) buy a 3/4 violin and proceed to play it for a while, will it make much of a difference to my playing on the 4/4?
Will i struggle much?

I dont want to be concert player, i just want to carry a decent tune

I am surprised that you find there are more 3/4 than 4/4 violins on ebay. It's really the contrary. there are tons of full size violins for sell everywhere on the web, and as many in local dealers. Why use a 3/4 too small for an adult if you want to learn? it's already difficult with an instrument of the proper dimensions relative to your body that there is no need really to make it even more complicated with a too small one....
