It was fine when I put it away night before last. (ok, I didn't practice yesterday, I admit it) It was in tune when I put it away. This has never happened to me before. Is this normal? Nothing unusual, except perhaps the spot where it broke.
If brand new, it could be a sign of a flaw in material, or poor shipment or storage conditions. If used for more than 100/150 hours, no reason to blame the producer. Strings come and go.
