I have recently looked at a cello in Australia, in good condition, labelled Hans Nebel, 1925, Philadelphia. Can anyone advise me about this maker, in particular about the quality of craftsmanship and reputation, and an approximate price bracket? Thanks!
That would be Hans J. Nebel's father. The N.J. Hans Nebel wasn't born until about 1939. It's my understanding that Hans senior was still a second generation maker, and his instruments are highly regarded.
